AmeriCorps VISTA has a long history of working with faith-based organizations that serve poor communities around the country. AmeriCorps VISTA members help these groups, many of them small and often centered around local places of worship, devise innovative and effective ways to reduce violence, nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship, improve student literacy, combat drug addiction, and increase self-sufficiency among the poor.
