Members of DC FIX IT pitch in during a 2008 Martin Luther King Day of Service at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Washington, D.C. About 20,000 people in the District of Columbia participated in nearly 150 service projects in honor of the slain civil rights leader on January 21, 2008.
More than 200 volunteers joined with Earth Conservation Corps AmeriCorps members during the 2007 King Day of Service to remove debris from Pope Branch in Washington, D.C.  An estimated 10,000 volunteers served through more than 80 projects in and around Washington D.C.  They joined hundreds of thousands of Americans who participated in the 2007 King Day of Service, sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service.
