Volunteers celebrate after a hard day's work building a playground from the ground-up in Washington, DC with the organizations KaBOOM! On Saturday October 23rd, more than 500 volunteers from the White House, the Corporation for National and Community Service, federal agencies and the local community volunteered as part of Make a Difference day. 2010 marked the 20th anniversary of this day, an effort led by USA Weekend and the HandsOn Network. Together these volunteers build a complete playground in just under six hours at Hyde Leadership Public Charter School. 

Attendees included Secretary Arne Duncan, from the Department of Education; Secretary Tom Vilsack, from the Department of Agriculture; Secretary Ray LaHood from the Department of Transportation; Secretary Tom Donovan from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and Corporation for National and Community Service CEO Patrick Corvington.
